SHARE YOUR STORIES WITH US

The conversations that matter most are sometimes shared over a cup of coffee. At La Converse, we strongly believe in the power of humanizing exchanges between the community and journalism. Over a cup of coffee, we give the floor to those who want to share their stories and lift the veil on their reality.

“The Quebec media have been polluting public debates for some time instead of contributing to them, especially when it comes to minority issues. For me, La Converse goes against the tide; its articles are true, representative, soothing. The Converse is a real breath of fresh air! ”

“La Converse stands out as the leader of a new movement in the world of journalism, a movement that extends the microphone to people whose stories are not being told or are exploited by journalists who do not leave their newsroom. La Converse offers journalism that delves into uncomfortable truths and helps us better understand the multicultural and colonial state in which we live.”

Christopher Curtis
Journalist, The Rover

“I teach La Converse stories in my classes because they provide excellent insight into the people who are experiencing the situations described. As a communications anthropologist, I appreciate this local journalism that seeks to open a dialogue to encourage actions that could change the daily lives of the people featured in the articles.”

Karoline Truchon
Professor of Communication, University du Quebec en Outaouais

“Working with La Converse has been a great collaborative experience. I found journalists to be very ethical. I was confident that their treatment of the news was done with a critical, informed look, and committed to social justice. Such a medium allows collective education on extremely important issues such as racism, especially in these difficult times. In addition, this media is mainly composed of racialized women, and makes it possible to provide points of view and perspectives that are sorely lacking in mainstream media. I don't miss a single article!”

Leila Benhadjoudja
Professor of Sociology, University of Ottawa

“I like the great importance you give to listening, your respect for the words of others. Thanks! ”

“A healthy democracy requires journalism — the fourth power — to tell the stories that the entire population lives. In this respect, La Converse plays a key role in presenting viewpoints that are often in the blind spots of other media.”

“In my opinion, La Converse is a medium that strives to understand the complexity of our society. Their team takes the time to understand the issues and analyze them. They also always gives the people concerned a voice. I think that La Converse is necessary in the Quebec media community because of its editorial proposal and its desire to serve the community.”
