La Converse is a non-profit bilingual media based in Montreal. Since 2020, we have been amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and developing dialogue journalism rooted in the field.
As we enter a new phase of growth and structuring, we want to strengthen our governance by welcoming new members to our board of directors. We are looking for experienced people, who have held leadership or management responsibilities in organizations, who wish to contribute strategically to the development of an independent media with a high social impact.
Profiles wanted
We are looking for people with proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
- General management or senior management of NPOs or institutions
- Governance and organizational structure
- Philanthropic funding and income diversification
- Institutional strategy and public policies
- Financial management of NPOs, including CPA expertise
- Human resources and organizational development
- Institutional development and strategic partnerships
- Organizational or regulatory law
We prefer profiles with several years of experience in management or high responsibility, capable of providing a strategic, structuring and independent perspective.
The role of the board of directors is strategic and fiduciary.
Members will be responsible for:
- Contribute to strategic direction and long-term vision
- Ensuring sound and rigorous governance
- Supporting management in its growth phase
- Supporting financial and institutional development
- Offer a critical, constructive and experienced perspective
- Act as a media ambassador in their networks
The board does not manage day-to-day operations, which are the responsibility of management.
Expected commitment
- Participation in council meetings (approximately X hours per month)
- Active contribution to strategic thinking
- Punctual availability for advice or institutional support
- Commitment to the mission and values of La Converse
